Mermaid Hair

Approximately 42 yards of a squishy, soft wool/mohair blend, handpainted in vivid blues with just a hint of purple and ivory and spun into a textured sport-to-bulky weight two-ply art yarn. Accompanied by an assortment of pearls, turquoise, and glass beads, which you can sew onto your finished project or use to make matching jewelry. (Please note: the holes in the beads are NOT large enough to string onto this yarn; you will need to use sewing thread.)

I started spinning slightly more than a year ago. I now own three spinning wheels (and want at least one more) and can frequently be heard lamenting the fact that the city won't let me keep sheep in my backyard. I have a particular interest in functional art yarn -- yarn with vivid texture and color that will knit or crochet into beautiful, warm, wearable items.

I measure my yardage by skeining and counting, so the yardage is not precise; I round down, so you should get at least the length stated and possibly a bit more. I will ship in manilla envelopes, with the yarn inside a sealed ziplock bag. I am happy to ship yarn and jewelry together; the jewelry will be packed into my usual small padded mailers for safety in transit.

I live with two dogs and three VERY helpful cats, one of whom is convinced that his mama was a skein of yarn. I try to keep them out of the fiber but I'm not going to lie to you -- you WILL find some hair in this. If you're allergic, or squicked by the thought of dog/cat hair in your yarn, I'm not the handspinner for you. Unless otherwise stated, all yarn is handwash only.
