The Waystone Project
Birth. Death. Marriage. Divorce. Graduation. Rebirth. Recovery. Surviving. Success. Moving. Staying. Love. Sorrow. Joy. Loss. Growth. Aging. Work. Home. Every life is a series of milestones, each one standing along the road of our lives as an indelible monument to who we have been, who we are, and who we will be for the rest of our tomorrows.
Just as markers stand along a highway, allowing the traveler's path to be retraced, so these markers stand in the memory of every human. Each one of us can look back into our lives to pull out the moments in time that define us. The Waystone Project will take those moments and make them corporeal - memories woven into wire and stones.
The Waystone Project will be limited to fifty pieces in total. Each Waystone will be a collaborative project between artist and participant, transforming the participant's chosen story into a tangible milestone of a life well lived.
The Fine Print:
Each Waystone Project piece will be custom-made, and could take anywhere from a few days to several weeks to finish. (Please also remember that the artist is pregnant and working a bit slower than usual due to the physical demands of growing a small human!) The Waystone Project will be made and shipped one piece at a time, until all fifty pieces have been completed. This is not a project that can be rushed, and we have no estimate on when it will be completed - it could take just a few months, or it might take a year or more.
Signups will remain open until all 50 spaces have been claimed. There are presently approximately 20 spaces available.
You choose how much to spend for your Waystone. We request a minimum of $50, as these are complicated custom pieces. (Payment plans are available.) The size and complexity of your piece will be proportional to the price.
No photographs will be sent during the creation of the Waystone pieces. Your Waystone piece will be a mystery until you receive it, to reflect the mysterious nature of life itself. We will notify you when we are beginning your Waystone, and again when it is completed and payment is due.
A gallery of the Waystone Project will be published on our website, with photos added each time a Waystone is completed and received by the participant. With your permission, we would like to include a summary or very brief (1 - 3 sentences) excerpt from your story along with the photo of your Waystone. This is entirely optional, and we will not publish anything except the photo without your explicit written consent.
