I grew up in on Florida's Gulf Coast, about an hour north of where Hurricane Irma made its second landfall on Sunday afternoon. I spent the afternoon listening to live coverage of the storm, too tense and worried to focus on work, but I eventually managed to get my hands moving on autopilot to make a big pile of earrings to use as a fundraiser for relief efforts.
Inspired by the colors of the water in the Gulf of Mexico, these earrings feature vintage and vitrial glass beads on sterling silver earwires. $10 from each pair will be donated to Portlight (http://www.portlight.org), an organization working towards making disaster recovery efforts more accessible to people with disabilities - two causes that are dear to my heart. 12 pairs available right now, and if they sell out I will try to either get more of the round beads or come up with a different variation.
