Memorial Jewelry

It is a tremendous honor to make memorial jewelry to commemorate a loved one who has left this earth, and when I am asked to do so I set about the work with the utmost compassion and respect. There is no timeline for grief - you can come to me at any point in the mourning process and I will hold space for you and help you plan a unique piece of jewelry in memory of your loved one.

I have made many such pieces over the past 20 years and each one is as unique as the person being remembered.

For some pieces I use a small glass bottle to hold ashes or locks of hair. Other items can be placed in the bottle as well - tiny scrolls of paper or pieces of fabric, dried flower petals, sand from a favorite beach, or anything small enough to fit into the bottle. The bottle is then set into a wire frame that can be left plain or accented with stones.

Others may choose to remember their loved ones by having me incorporate elements from heirloom jewelry or small mementos from trips taken together into a new piece of jewelry. Still others may opt not to provide any of those things, preferring instead to have me create something beautiful with birthstones or stones in their loved one’s favorite colors.

I can work with both human and pet ashes, hair or fur, and almost anything else that you might wish to send me to include. I do not personally do resin or glass encapsulation of ashes or breastmilk but I am quite willing to collaborate with other artists who do offer that service.

When you contact me to discuss a memorial piece, I will walk you through the entire process and (if applicable) provide detailed instructions for how to send items to me. I will handle your loved one’s ashes or hair or mementos with the utmost respect and care as I create a piece of jewelry in their honor.

A note about pricing: my pieces typically start around $25 for a simple gemstone pendant or earrings, while more complex pieces like the bottle pendants can be anywhere from $75 to $200 depending on materials. I know end of life expenses can be devastatingly high, and for this particular aspect of my work I never want to have to turn anyone away due to lack of funds. If you feel that I am the right artist for you but you can’t afford my normal prices, please let me know and I will work with you to find a way to make it possible. .

Thank you for considering me to be part of your journey. To begin the commission process, please go to the Commissions & Custom Jewelry page and fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
