As soon as I spotted the tiny pocket of brilliant green fire in this otherwise somewhat unremarkable piece of Mexican opal - which is mostly the orange and white matrix stone in which the opals are found - I knew I had to pair it with chrome diopside, which is the exact same shade of vivid green. I added orange color-treated opals with green flash to pull it all together. There’s a lot of fire in here, but you have to know where to look.
