Written in Stone and Bone

Written in Stone and Bone

I sat down intending to make a fairly simple pendant out of a neat piece of jasper and a fossilized dinosaur bone bead, and three days later this was done. Sometimes the pieces just have a mind of their own and there’s no point in arguing with them about it.

There is a lot of really cool stuff in here: the reddish-brown bead on the left side is fossilized dinosaur bone,  the two white round beads are petrified wood, the spiral patterned bead is ammonite, the large green and brown bead is an unknown jasper, and the vaguely trapezoid-shaped one on the right just below those two dark garnets is cut from a thunder egg. There are also a lot of opals, many colors of garnet, a fair bit of labradorite, assorted colors of tourmaline and zircon, some Herkimer diamonds, and probably a few other things I’m forgetting now.

It’s a large and rather heavy pendant, a bit over 3” tall and 2” wide, and it has stories in it.
