Dancing with the Light
Dancing with the Light
Stones that do nifty things with light are my absolute favorite type of stones, and I’ve combined my three all-time favorites - labradorite, moonstone, and opal - to make these gorgeously shimmering earrings. Each earring features three dangling stacks of square beads - opal and moonstone bookended either side by labradorite - and you could get lost for hours finding all the flash and sparkle and mysteries in the beads.
(I did indeed get lost in these beads for several delightful hours as I assembled all the stacks, and then again as I started putting them onto the spiraling wirework. There’s bright blue and green and yellow flash and occasionally a little ghostly purple flash on the labradorite; sparks of red and green and blue and gold fire in the opals; and then rainbow moonstone has, well, rainbows sometimes, and lots of blue other times. Some of it jumps right out and sings and some of it is shy and it might take a bit of looking to find it, but all of it dances.)
You will receive one pair of earrings chosen at random, made from the beads you see in these photos. Each pair will be slightly different, and in fact each one will look a bit different every time the light hits it - with a total of 24 beads on each pair of earrings and all the possible ways they can twist and turn, these are about as tricksy a thing as I’ve ever tried to photograph.
Limited edition of 15 pairs, and when they’re gone they’re gone; I bought these beads specifically for this project and don’t have any left over!
(I use sterling silver french hooks by default, but I also stock titanium and surgical steel french hooks, high-quality silver-plated leverback findings, and two kinds of clip-on earring thingies, and you can upgrade to any of those right over here.)
